pinpointSelecting a Niche Topic for people to share their interests and activities. This is the first big decision and the first point everything can go wrong. Make sure you select a topic for your niche social network website or blog that you are passionate about but that others are passionate about also.

Developing of a niche focused website is essential. The more specific your website is to a select group of users, the more targeted the advertising can become; the more loyal the membership will be; and the more opportunities the site will have to be profitable.

The following two links point to articles that can assist you in selecting a niche. Both of these articles discuss selecting a blog topic, but will also work for selecting a social network niche topic.

Remember that sometimes you have to setup your website and just start creating content and see what happens. You can always make adjustments as you go along.

If you are specifically creating a blogging website. Check out our article on Choosing the right blog topic.
