Involver has brought to our attention that they have created the First-Ever Klout App for Facebook. This neat Facebook application will allow Fan Page owners to tailor coupons and content to users based on their Klout score.

So what exactly does having the Klout app for Facebook mean for you? Well, it means whether you have social media savvy or social media newby fans, you can tailor content specifically to them based on their Klout score. All they have to do is allow the Klout application to access their profile and a Klout score will be created. (Very easy for the fan) That score then gives them access to certain coupons or content that you have created based on their score.

Thats enough from me and what I think about the Klout App for Facebook. How about you just watch the Involver video below to find out in more detail how this can work for you.

We’re all accustomed to the term “social media.” After all, pretty much everybody we know has a Facebook page, a Twitter account and sometimes even a blog. And that’s all social media is, right?

Wrong. There are literally hundreds of social media sites that have been created over the past few years. Nobody has an account on all of them; that would be a day’s work in and of itself! However there are some that are unique and bring a whole new perspective to the world of social media.

Here are five social media sites you probably have never heard of, but might consider joining.

1. Eventful

Eventful is a useful social media tool that can help you find, create, and share events. It can get pretty easy to get overloaded on Facebook events. You don’t have to be an online marketing expert to know that having a site that is focused specifically on events will keep potential guests from being overloaded on invitations.

This is particularly useful among music industry folks. You can upload your iTunes library into Eventful and it will automatically generate event results for the artists in your library. You can find concerts and promotional events for them easily. Even better, you can use Eventful’s Demand function, in which users can say what artists or bands they want to see visit their hometown. If enough people demand a performer visit their hometown, it might actually happen!

2. KnowEm

When promoting a new business or brand, it can sometimes be difficult to ensure that your name isn’t being used by another organization. KnowEm is an integrated social media site that allows you to search your company’s name on over 350 of the social media sites in existence. It will also allow you to secure your name on these sites to ensure that you are the first to obtain that name before anybody else can take it.

3. Nibbledish

Yes, a social networking site for food and cooking enthusiasts. With Nibbledish you can create, upload and share your own recipes or read and rate others’ unique recipes. If you’ve got an appetite for new and delicious foods, sign up and find some special, personalized recipes from all over the world.

4. Instructables

Not sure how to make something? Instructables has everything that you need for personal projects, whether they be for your home, schoolwork or your not-so-average prank. This social site is completely user-dependent, as all users can upload, comment on, and rank different projects. If you have ever wondered how to put a stapler in jello, this is your place for it.

5. LockerBlogger

Calling all sports fans! LockerBlogger is an excellent resource to connect with professional athletes and coaches, as well as other fans. Over 150 pro athletes have created profiles on LockerBlogger, and consistently blog about their games and what’s going on in their lives off the field. Coaches can upload how-to videos on the different exercises and training techniques they use for their teams. Fans can create their own “locker” on LockerBlogger to give them an inside look on what it’s like to be a professional athlete. This site is a must for any sports enthusiast!

Of course, there are hundreds more social networking sites waiting to become the next Facebook. What other “unknown” social media sites do you know of, or are a member of?

Recently one of our clients pointed out that there were interested in having a Yelp Application added to their Facebook Fan Page. The problem was that I had never heard or seen one. After some research, still nothing. I was disappointed to not find anything because I really like Yelp.

A Month or so later our client sent me an email which braught me to the site www.socialappshq.com. I became very excited when I found out that a Yelp Facebook Application really does exist. I surfed right onto their website and in the bottom right corner saw the “Our Apps” table where the Yelp Application logo was sitting. I clicked on over to their page and added the yelp application to a few of my clients fan pages.

The first fan page I added the Yelp Facebook application to didn’t work… It gave me an error stating that “Yelp did not return any data for the given phone number”. I went make sure the phone number matched on the Yelp and Facebook page, and it did. I also made sure that it matched like (555) 555-555. I made that change, but it still didn’t work.

After looking at it some more, I noticed that it requires you to create an account at SocialAppsHQ. Once I made an account, there it was “Select Your Plan”. I did not notice the “Pricing” tab when I first went onto their website and the application page didn’t say anything about it being a paid app. After looking that the pricing, the lowest plan was only $0.99 per month BUT it has a maximum of 100 fans. The next and “Most Popular” was $9.99 per month.

So now I have no idea if the application will work or not once I pay their fee. From what it looks like to me, it doesn’t work. But once you make the payment… the phone number thing may not be an issue.

Now, I do like Yelp, and I would like to have that application on my Fan Page, but I really don’t think it is work $10 per month to have. I know I can offer it to my clients if they really want it, but I think they will agree with me on the pricing. Our clients or typically small businesses and entrepreneurs, perhaps larger businesses or higher revenue generating businesses wouldn’t mind this cost.

Either way, way want to get some more info on this app. Have you used the SocialAppsHQ Yelp Facebook Application or any of their others? What do you think about it? Is it worth the investment?

They explain how their blog or production of content brings them all kinds of traffic, buy yours does not seem to do ANYTHING?! If you are like most people in this situation, you would love to know exactly what it takes to gain exponential web traffic with articles for yourself. In this post I’m going to give you a few pointers and show you a video that should allow you to gain same great insights on how its done.

There are 3 tips that will help you do this.

Create Evergreen Articles - You may have heard articles called evergreen articles or pillar articles. Either one, they both have some of the same elements. This means to create an article that will be relavent now and in the features. Create an article that is not time sensitive in any kind of way and does not focus on a specific fad of the time. Rather, focus on the underling idea of the fad. For a tip, instead of writing something like “last month” or “last year” be more defined like “January 2010″. After writing ask yourself “What is the life expectancy of this article?” The answer should be, this can be found to be useful now or 5 years from now if someone comes across it. View the video below for more information on Evergreen articles.

Distribute Your Articles – While publishing an article on your own website is great, their are many resources that allow you to publish your articles elsewhere. Websites like EzineArticles allows you to publish content on their website with links back to your own. An idea is to publish 2/3rds of an article on their website ending with a link to your website to finish off the reading. By doing this you are gaining traffic from your own website being picked up in search engines as well as the multiple distribution spots. Google the term “submit articles” to find more article distribution websites.

DO IT AGAIN and AGAIN for Exponential Gains! – The REAL trick is to do this again and again and again! Think about it! The more articles you distributed among the internet, the more traffic you will bring. Each article post is working to bring traffic to your website. One article along my bring 100′s or 1000′s of visitors every month. If you posted just 1 article per week for a year, that would be multiplied by 52. And if you you do it the next year it doubles, and the next year it would go up 3X. However, now that you have multiple quality evergreen articles people will link to your articles. You can link to your own other articles to get multiple views per reader. This is where the real traffic comes into effect.

4. An Extra Tip – Every time you post an article. Search the internet high and low of ANYONE talking about or mentioning the topic of your article and jump into a conversation. Look on forums, blogs, social networks, answer websites, etc. for those speaking about your articles topic. Join the conversation and simply chat about the topic. This will bring attention to you, your website, and hopefully the article you just posted. Let the conversation flow. If the time comes up to mention your article, do so… but DO NOT force it. People socialize to… socialize, not to be sold to or forced to view something else.

Here is the video on How to Grow Your Business with Everygreen Articles

Why does AppBistro exist, why was it started?

We started because there was a gap in developing on the Facebook Platform and that gap was discoverability. So, we decided to start a place where developers can gain discoverability, but also consumers can see trustworthy reviews of these applications. We wanted people to be able to come and find out as much about an application before they invest in it!

How does the website help people do things they want/need to do?

We help in a few different ways. We review each application impartially, so when users come to our site they know all of the pros and cons for that application. They also know features about that application. We help developers by featuring and marketing the applications that they develop. Having a third party review an application helps both the developer and the consumer. It brings value to the developer and the consumer.

Does it cost to use?

The website itself has not cost to use.

What are the prices of the applications?

We have both free and paid applications. The prices range from free to $375 dollars per application, but most are in the 10 dollar range. Also, it’s worth noting that some of these costs include multiple applications.

Our thoughts

We are very pleased with what AppBistro has to offer. As an organization who uses Facebook Applications, it is great to see a database of apps that are tested and checked out by a third party before waisting our time and possibly money trying apps out. We also like their questions and answers page. This is very helpful when trouble arises although there was no links to get back to the real homepage of the website.

If you are researching applications for your fan page. AppBistro is a good place to start.

Also, please make sure to leave your questions or comments about AppBistro!

I can not seem to find a place that I can go in and chat and participate on this topic only. Forums are considered a piece of social media, but this industry itself seems to lack a social media forum

The reason I write this is so that maybe I can get some comments from some of you to help me out. Are you a part of any social media industry “forums” or “message boards” of some kind?

Let us know your top picks so that I can know where to go and we can help others who are in my position learn the same
