There are debates on if you should blog for yourself or for your readers. The video below may not stop that debate, but having two very well known publishers leaning in one direction may change your mind.

Here is a short recap from the video.

  • Blogging is free
  • It doesn’t matter if anyone reads your blog
  • Become a part of the conversation with your blog
  • Blogging is the best marketing tool

What do you think about this? Do you really believe you should be blogging only for yourself and your humility from writing it?

Great video clip - thanks for posting.

There's nothing more dispiriting than putting your heart and soul (not to mention hours of your time) into writing a blog only to find that other than the black hat SEO community no-one reads and comments on your posts. But I've taken 2 things away from this short discussion:

1. The process of writing, expressing yourself and honing your ideas has instrinsic value
2. If you do it well people will read your posts.

I can feel another blog post coming on.....

I completely agree. If you know no one is reading, it would be very discouraging. However, if your mindset is changed to blog for yourself.... readers and commenters are strictly bonus

Yes Jan! Your #1 is right on the spot and the biggest thing to take from all of this.

I completely agree that if you continue to write, and if your information is potentially helpful and inspiring in some form, you WILL get readers.

What do you think on the business side of things?? Does a business write for themselves rather than their readers?
